WHITIANGA  (Mercury Bay)

Mercury Bay, on the East Coast of the Coromandel Peninsula, offers a spectacular coast flanked by islands.

There are white sandy beaches, crystal water creeks, green mountains, a variety of dynamic sceneries everywhere to welcome you.

 

Whitianga is the main town of the Coromandel Area, which is located on the Eastern side of The Coromandel Peninsula, 208 kms from Auckland (2.5 - 3 hours driving time). it is a popular holiday town for many people from other cities in NZ and overseas. There are about 4,000 permanent residents, and it offers a full range of visitor’s services and attractions. Whitianga has an excellent selection of fine restaurants and cafes and a wide variety of accommodation to cater for everyone. The relatively sheltered waters of the bay are great for all water sports. On land you can enjoy bush walks, horse trekking, tours, adventures, shopping & restaurants; or check out the local artists on Mercury Bay’s Craft Trail.

Population :       8,000

Town charactor: Historic, Convenient, Relaxing

 

The new Evakona Campus in Thames has started its operation in April 2007. The modern classrooms in this fully renovated historical building are bright and well equipped. The programmes on offer and the fees are identical with those of our Whitianga Campus.

 

Thames is known as the 'Gateway to the Coromandel', which is only a ninety minute drive from Auckland. The main shopping location on the peninsula.  

In the late 19th century, this town was one of New Zealand's largest - built on the pioneering industries of gold and kauri logging. Today, its colourful history is still alive in the many pubs, buildings, museums and activities found in the area. It is a pleasant provincial town of 8,000 people.
